You will learn skills and training in areas such as: leadership, communications, campsite preparation, bedding types, weather, building campfires, cooking, skits, songs, ceremonies, and much more. Best of all, you will be better prepared, to lead your boys down the trail to becoming Boy Scouts.
Webelos den campouts serve to move the Webelos Scout to the next level of the BSA’s everincreasing challenge in the outdoors. The boy and his parent will be introduced to the basics of Boy Scout camping. A trained Webelos den leader who has completed position-specific training and Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders should conduct these events. Webelos dens are encouraged to participate in joint den-troop campouts, particularly in the fifthgrade year.
Designed specifically for Webelos den leaders and their assistants, the Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders course teaches outdoor-related skills through demonstration and handson practice. Webelos den leaders should attend this training before conducting Webelos overnight camping with the boys and parents of the den. In addition to covering basic camping skills, this training features planning campouts and finding resources.

Scouting for Food Change

There has been a change, we are doing Scouting for Food. We have a limited amount of bags here at the office and patches are being ordered. If your unit turns in food to a local food pantry, please make sure you report that to me, so you can get your patches and we can keep count of how many food items are collected.

Membership
Thank you to the membership team and all unit leaders for a great fall recruitment. We ended October plus in membership for the first time in four years. We are already plus for the month of November and -75
for year end.

Welcome
I would like to welcome Cub Scout Pack 239 to the Algonquian District. The pack is sponsored by Tyner United Methodist Church.

Charters
The next scheduled time to turn in your charter is November 30th from 6:00-7:30pm at the Council Office. You can turn them in at the December roundtables as well. If you can’t make those times, you need to schedule an appointment with either Christine or myself.

Friends of Scouting
At the past roundtable, we had the flyer available to schedule your FOS dates. I will be emailing them out to everyone soon. Thank you Troop 579 from St. Mary’s in Niles to be the first unit to schedule your roundup.

Merit Badge Fair
Thank you To Mike Rosenbaum and everyone that helped with the Merit Badge Clinic on October 31st. We had 103 Scouts attend the event this year. A special thanks to Lake Michigan College for hosting the event. Mike Rosenbaum is stepping down from running the Merit Badge Clinic and Tim Monaghan will be taking over. Thank you Mike for running a great event for the last two years and laying the ground work for an ongoing successful event.
