Roundtable at St Pat’s Park this month was a great time, despite the weather. Life is good when you mix food, fun, fellowship, and the outdoors!
Among the important topics discussed at the roundtable were several exciting events coming up this year in our district. Of course, the success of these events—as always—is dependent upon the selfless dedication of our volunteers. And so we come to you asking for your support.
Consider becoming a chairperson for one of these events. Or consider being a part of a subcommittee that puts together one of the events that will create memories our Scouts will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
As Brian Wozniak reminded us at the meeting, taking a lead role as a chairperson doesn’t place all of the responsibility on your shoulders. We have many resources at your disposal—experienced, local experts who’ve played key roles in Algonquin District programs for many years, a step-by-step checklist to help you make sure you don’t miss anything, scout executives with deep backgrounds we can draw upon, and access to best practices that we can learn from.
We’re poised to have a tremendous Scouting year in 2014-2015. But with your talents and passion, we can do so much more. Help us by considering a role as a chairperson for any of the following programs:
- Merit Badge Clinic November 1, 2014
- Lock-in February 21-22, 2015
- Klondike January 23-25, 2015
I think you’ll find this to be one of those things in life that you end up getting so much more out of than you expect, and I hope you’ll consider our request. Please feel free to contact me directly if you’d like to be a part of planning any of these events, particularly as a chairperson. I’m available to you at any time via email at JAlanLoyd@aol.com or by phone at (574) 229-0790.
Thank you for all you do for our Scouts.
Alan Loyd, Programs Chair
